John E. Skog

Professional Experience Summary

Mr. Skog has 33 years experience in the electric utility industry, ten years as a consultant and twenty years as an electric utility engineering, operations and maintenance supervisor. More than three-quarters of his professional experience have been focused on the optimization of routine maintenance programs in electric utilities. Mr. Skog is recognized around the world as an authority on the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and more recently, Performance Focused maintenance (PFM), techniques for the optimization of routine maintenance.

As a senior consultant and business manager, the focus of his recent work has been in the substation sector of the electric utility industry. He has provided maintenance optimization training and consulting services for utility clients across the U.S., Europe and Asia. Mr. Skog has also provided consulting support in the fields of utility operations and Automated Meter Reading.

As a Cigré member, Mr. Skog is involved in several working groups addressing equipment reliability and on-line monitoring. Previously, as a consultant for Doble Engineering Company, Mr. Skog has been directly involved in the development of continuous diagnostic systems for substation equipment. As a utility superintendent, Mr. Skog served on the EPRI task force that developed a range of guidance, references and software tools to support RCM and PFM program implementation in the power delivery area.

Mr. Skog is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Mr. Skog has published over 30 technical papers on the subjects of Maintenance Management, RCM, Substation Maintenance, and Automated Meter Reading. These articles have been included in every editions of the Doble Client Conference Proceedings beginning in 1979 to 2000, The Doble Exchange, T&D magazine, Cigré Electra and other trade publications.
